The Food Access & Distribution Working Groups seeks to identify and act on opportunities to expand and sustain food access through resource sharing, increasing access points, supporting the availability of local foods, reducing distribution barriers, promoting the work of community organizations, and strengthening collaborations.
Are you concerned about delays and changes to SNAP benefits? Motivated to meet food access needs in our community? Interested in opportunities to collaborate with others to sustain your organization’s food distribution efforts?
If you said yes to any or all of the above, consider joining PCFA’s new Food Access & Distribution Working Group! In 2026, you can help us:
Collate existing resources and map food access and distribution sites (e.g., SNAP/WIC retailers, food banks and pantries, mutual aid, other local programs offering nutrition support)
Support research to assess the impacts of recent budget and program cuts, policy changes, and the government shutdown on local food access and distribution to understand needs and opportunities and support further advocacy and action
Build resources to better support and sustain emergency food distribution in preparation for the next shock or stressor event
Identify opportunities for collaboration between organizations, with particular attention to securing and sustaining funding
