Community Kick-Off Event Recap!

Thank you to everyone who attended PCFA’s Community Kick-Off event on December 2nd! People from across our community gathered at Las Milpitas Community Farm to learn about the work that Pima County Food Alliance (PCFA) and the University of Arizona’s Food Systems Research Lab (FSRL) have been doing to revitalize and rebuild PCFA as a thriving food policy council for our local food system. Guests visited three stations to learn about different components of our project and were invited to share their feedback, reactions, and questions to the information presented. You can learn more about the project and our findings in this report!

Guests also participated in a community art project. They were asked to respond to the prompts, “What nourishes you?” and “What nourishes our community?”. The result was a vibrant canvas tapestry that will guide us in our efforts to create a thriving local food system for everyone in Pima County. In between it all, we caught up with longtime friends, met wonderful new ones, ate delicious food from OaxaRico, and heard live music from Kiri Escalante of Aztral Folk. We are so grateful to be in community with such kind, caring, and passionate humans, and cannot wait to continue this work with you all!
